The Dandenong Ranges Buddhist Community inc. is located in Emerald situated in the Dandenong Ranges, 50km east of Melbourne, Australia.

We are associated with the Melbourne Buddhist Centre and are part of the worldwide organisation known as the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order (FWBO).

The FWBO has  more than 70 Centres situated in most major Western countries and India. It was founded in the U.K. in 1967 by Sangharakshita.

Sangharakshita  lived in India for  twenty years prior to 1967, during which time he studied and practised the three great traditions of Buddhism. The Western Buddhist Order draws upon all of these traditions to present the Teaching of the Buddha in a way designed to be more accessible to the Western mind.

We hold regular weekly meditations and occasional introductory courses for those new to Buddhism and meditation.

Through our affiliation with the Melbourne Buddhist Centre we are able to offer retreats and Dharma study activities which will be advertised on our news page.
