Geoff's Holiday - Part 2

Here are some photos from my
recent trip to the outback desert, where I wrote this poem.

I sit here in the desert,
The outback red and dry.
From horizon to horizon,
Emptiness meets the sky.
I reach out and greet it,
My mind is empty too.
The desert isn't for everyone,
Except the nomadic few.
I meditate in emptiness,
My consciousness receives.
I feel at one with nothingness,
Of this my mind conceives.
An overwhelming wave of happiness,
Excites my very soul.
I feel guilty at the intensity,
That makes me feel whole.
My eyes behold the desert,
The setting sun turns gold.
I feel at one with everything,
And everything I behold.
I now return to the city,
From the outback I am apart.
But a calmness from the desert,
I carry in my heart.
